    Abstract:

It is popular to feature a tadpole fuselage for modern light general aviation(GA) airplanes. Computational fluid dynamics software was utilized to analysis the aerodynamic characteristics for a typical GA airplane, with the presentation of drag bucket. We investigated the aerodynamic effects of different rear-fuselage contractions on the simplified geometry. It is found that 29.76% reduction can be achieved for the pressure drag of the tadpole fuselage, leading to 6.34% increment of maximum lift-to-drag of the simplified geometry.
